IntelliKeys:
HH01515A.gif (970 bytes)  IntelliKeys and the iMate:
You will need two things to make the iMac to work with the IntelliKeys.  The first is the iMate, their ADB to USB converter.  The second is software.  The
converter allows you to hook the IK to the iMac through the USB port.  Then you can use the standard overlays with the IntelliKeys.  The software allows you to
send overlays to the IntelliKeys. You can purchase the iMate from Griffin Technologies and then download the software from their web site (www.griffintechnologies.com).
When installing, start with version 1.8 (this version is also the one that is currently on the Griffin web site).  All you need to do is  run the installer.  It should find and remove any existing iMate driver, and install the tuned version. Use version 2.0 only if there seems to be a problem with using version 1.8. These drivers have been successfully tested with IntelliKeys, OS 8++ &  OS9 iMacs, iBooks & G3s.

HH01515A.gif (970 bytes)IntelliTalk II:
If you are working with OS 9 on a Mac you may see a message come up when you press a key on the overlay that asks if you want to assign HotKeys to the function keys.  Explanation:  When you use IntelliTalk II on an OS9 Macintosh and you press an overlay key, the overlay may not work properly or a message may appear asking if you want to assign HotKeys to function keys. This message relates to OS 9’s new feature allowing users to assign system functions to function keys F1-F12. A HotKey must not be assigned to F12 because IntelliTalk II is using the F12 key as part of the overlay keys.

Solution: If you receive a message asking if you want to open the Keyboard control panel, check the box titled "do not show this dialog again", and click on OK. If not, Open the Keyboard control panel directly. With the control panel now open, click on the Function Keys button. This will display a list of all the function keys and their assignments. You want to be sure that F12 has nothing assigned. If this is not the case, click on the item that’s assigned to F12. A Clear button should appear. Click on the Clear button to remove the assignment, then close this window and the Keyboard control panel. When you use IntelliTalk II on an OS9 Macintosh and you press an overlay key, the overlay may not work properly or a message may appear asking if you want to assign HotKeys to function keys. HH01515A.gif (970 bytes)KeyTec: Magic Touch Window
Remember our old friend DOS?  Well, it isn't used for much anymore, but it is used to test the touch screen's communication with the serial port.  If you have a PRO or PROE touch screen control box that is giving you trouble, follow these quick and easy steps to find out what's wrong.

You may use the TEST program by first exiting Windows: START>SHUTDOWN>RESTART IN MS.DOS MODE. (Do not open a DOS window directly
from Windows, it will always give you an error message). Insert the Pro or ProE installation diskette (if you do not have the disk, you can download the test program from our web site www.magictouch.com/downloads).   Change drive to A:\.  Type CD\TEST, enter. Then type TEST, enter.
If you get "Controller OK, com1 (or com2)", touch the screen and drag your finger around.  You should see the line following your touch (the position may not be accurate). If you get "Controller Error" please contact our Tech Support Department. This indicates a problem with either the serial port, or the touch screen.
